Police search for suspect in shooting of 12-year-old boy

Las Vegas police are looking for a juvenile who is suspected of shooting in the face a 12-year-old boy at a home near Lake Mead and Jones boulevards this afternoon.

Police said the boy's wounds were not considered life-threatening.

They called the shooting gang-related but provided no details.

Police spokeswoman Barbara Morgan said the boy's mother called police from her home in the 6200 block of Don Zarembo Avenue claiming that her son answered the door and was shot.

The boy was taken to University Medical Center. His condition was not available.

Morgan said the suspect and the victim are believed to know each other.

Police are looking for a 13- to-14-year-old wearing a light-blue hooded sweatshirt and white shoes.
