Police seek motive for fatal fight near eatery
August 18, 2009 - 9:00 pm
Police have not yet established why a fight started early Sunday that led to the slaying of a 21-year-old Las Vegas man outside an eatery at 953 E. Sahara Ave.
The Clark County coroner's office identified the victim as Diego Armando Solario, who was stabbed in the chest. Edgar Magana was arrested and charged in connection with the slaying.
According to a Las Vegas police report, Solario and Magana fought outside the Las Palmas Restaurant, near Maryland Parkway. The men were two of many participating in a fight about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
Security guards from the restaurant told police that the fight broke out and that Magana, 23, fled on foot before one of the guards caught him.
Police said surveillance footage showed Solario punching Magana outside the front doors of the building, which sparked a larger fight.
In the footage, Solario and Magana are seen close to each other before Magana turns and walks away. Solario then bends over and grabs his stomach, police said.
Solario was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he died.
Magana was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of murder with a deadly weapon. His criminal history in Las Vegas includes robbery and battery charges and convictions for driving under the influence and carrying a concealed weapon.
He is being held without bail.
