Police seek person of interest in May slaying

Las Vegas police identified a "person of interest" Monday in connection with the May slaying of a 23-year-old man.

Police are searching for Leandro Lopez-Turatis, who is described as 6-foot-3 inches tall and weighing about 175 pounds. He was last seen driving a 2001 white Mercedes S500 with Nevada license plate 960VRJ.

Police said Lopez-Turatis might be able to shed light on the May 21 discovery of the body of Francisco Lambert-Cordero, which was found off of state Route 160 in the area of Forrester Street.

Homicide Sgt. Steve Naegele said Lambert-Cordero died of multiple gunshot wounds. He said Lambert-Cordero and Lopez-Turatis were friends who emigrated from Cuba in November.

Anyone with information about Lopez-Turatis or the vehicle's whereabouts is urged to call Las Vegas police Homicide Section at 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
