Police suspect car discovered in stolen trailer has body inside trunk
The owner of a stolen trailer discovered several oddities inside when it was discovered Thursday at the Oak Tree Apartments, on Alexander Road near Tenaya Way.
Inside the trailer was a white Acura, which was stolen Wednesday in the southwest valley, Las Vegas police said.
And inside the trunk of the Acura was a macabre mystery.
By late Thursday, investigators had not opened the trunk to confirm it contained a body, but the putrid smell and blood and fluid seepage suggested to homicide detectives that there was something dead inside.
Police planned to take the trailer, the car and whatever was in the trunk to the crime lab. Lt. Lew Roberts said.
The trunk was tied shut, making it hard for investigators to open the trunk without damaging evidence, Roberts said. Whatever is inside, is large, Roberts said, adding that through an opening in the trunk detectives could make out a sports jersey.
The owner of the trailer, stolen early Thursday, was traveling on U.S. Highway 95, saw it at the apartment complex and called police, Roberts said.
Investigators are trying to locate the Acura's owner and also are looking through missing persons reports, he said.
