R-J sales manager dies at 50

Michael Reicher, a division sales manager at the Review-Journal, died Sunday. He was 50 years old.

Reicher and his wife, Maureen, moved to Pahrump in 2005 after a lifetime in Chicago.

He began as an advertising account executive at the Review-Journal that year and quickly rose through the ranks.

He twice was promoted, most recently in March, managing the north and Summerlin divisions.

Reicher oversaw the retail advertising aspects of the newspaper's special sections, such as the Best of Las Vegas.

He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan.

His boss, Diane Winnemuller, the newspaper's retail advertising manager, said Reicher had a "gift" for interacting with people.

"He treated everybody as an individual," she said. "He didn't just have one style. He was able to work with people on individual needs. And that's really a gift."

He had gotten sick with an undisclosed illness several months ago and left work about five weeks ago, she said.

"He fought a long battle," Winnemuller said.

Reicher is survived by his wife, two grown sons, Patrick and Jody, and one grandchild.

Services will be in Chicago, where friends and family will gather for pizza and beer, which Winnemuller said is just what Reicher wanted.
