Rancho High cancels tonight’s boys basketball game after fight

Because tensions at Rancho High School were still high after a lunchtime fight in the school cafeteria, school officials decided to cancel tonight's boys basketball game rather than risk another confrontation among students.

No one was injured but two to four students were taken into custody on charges related to fighting and causing a disturbance, Clark County School District police officials said. The cause of the fight was not immediately known.

A large police presence was on hand for school dismissal this afternoon as a safety precaution, Police Capt. Jim Ketsaa said.

The school on Searles Avenue near Eastern Avenue was scheduled to play Canyon Springs High School.
