Recall election for Ross set for Jan. 31

The city of Las Vegas on Thursday announced several important dates for the special recall election for City Councilman Steve Ross.

The recall election, prompted by a petition drive by Ross opponents, will be held Jan. 31, with early voting on Jan. 26-27.

The election is open to registered voters in Ward 6. Unregistered people who wish to vote in the election can register in person at the office of City Clerk Beverly Bridges through 9 p.m. Jan. 14.

The office is at City Hall, 400 Stewart Ave.

So far the only candidate to announce he will challenge Ross is Planning Commissioner Byron Goynes, who has sought the seat in the past. But candidates have until 5 p.m. Jan. 11 to file.
