Record minority enrollment at University of Nevada, Reno

RENO - University of Nevada, Reno officials say the school had the highest percentage of minority students in its history last school year.
Serge Herzog of UNR's Office of Institutional Analysis says minority students accounted for 26 percent of the total student population during the fall semester and 27 percent during the spring semester.
Herzog told the Reno Gazette-Journal that the number of minority students climbed by 8 percent, or by about 400 students.
During the fall semester, 2,032 Hispanic students represented 11.3 percent of the total student population of 18,000.
By comparison, 1,053 Asian students accounted for 5.8 percent of the total population, and 557 black students represented 3.1 percent of it.
Also last fall, 3,281 students from other states or countries attended UNR, a 29 percent increase from the previous year.
