CARSON CITY -- A nonprofit organization says Nevada was among the top 10 most improved in voter turnout among the 51 states and the District of Columbia in the 2010 general election.
Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller pointed Friday to a report by Boston-based Nonprofit VOTE finding that 42.7 percent of Nevada voters turned out for the November 2010 election. That was up 5.6 percent over 2006, and it raised the state to 29th in 2010 from 41st in 2006.
The Nevada election featured the high-profile race between Senate Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid and Republican challenger and tea party favorite Sharron Angle.
The report also found the Latino share of the Nevada electorate rose from 12 percent in 2006 to 15 percent in 2010.
