Report: Tyson KOs gap-toothed grin

Mike Tyson is changing his ferocious look. No, he's not having his tribal tattoo removed.

He's missing that famous gap-toothed, gold-capped grin that was featured prominently in "The Hangover."

One of the most recognizable faces in the world has been undergoing a dental makeover, a friend in his inner circle confirmed Sunday.

Tyson recently told me he's focusing on an acting career, and that may have something to do with his departure from the gap-toothed celebrity club.

Those who chose to stick with their original look and made out OK include Madonna, David Letterman, model Lauren Hutton, Elton John, Mick Jagger, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Samuel L. Jackson.

PASSING OF TORCH

Hugh Hefner doesn't have any career advice for Charlie Sheen, a regular at the Playboy Mansion, other than "life is worth living but not like that."

"I'm sure he'll find his way back," said Hefner, who was at the Palms on Saturday to celebrate his 85th birthday and son Marston's 21st.

"The fact that he was born on my birthday is just too dear," Hef said.

Other than the testosterone stir caused by the 31 Playboy Playmates who attended, it was a low-key father-son celebration because Marston doesn't drink.

Hef said he couldn't be prouder of the way Marston and brother Cooper (who turns 20 this fall) "deal with it all so well. Being the son of someone famous is always a test."

The Playboy founder made certain they would grow up near him when he bought a home for ex-wife Kimberly Conrad next to the mansion.

With Hef soon planning to pass the torch to Marston, I asked both about the turning point in their relationship.

Both agreed it came last summer when Marston spent a lot of time at the mansion.

"It was a very special time for us," Hef said, "a transition and a bonding."

Marston and Cooper will be groomsmen when their father and former playmate Crystal Harris get married June 18. Hef's brother, Keith, will be the best man.

Joining Marston for his birthday was part-time Las Vegas resident Claire Sinclair, who will be named Playboy Playmate of the Year on May 6 at the Palms.

"It kind of got leaked prematurely," Hef said, "but she's on ("Holly's World") and it got mentioned as things do on reality shows."

THE SCENE AND HEARD

ESPN college basketball analyst Dick Vitale jumped on Twitter on Sunday to weigh in on UNLV's hiring of a new basketball coach: "Nothing against a sharp young guy David Rice," Vitale tweeted, "but I thought Reggie Theus was the most natural choice ... !" For emphasis, Vitale ran his final comments about Theus in capital letters.
