Retiree escapes punishment for comparing bankruptcy court to brothel
Bankruptcy Judge Bruce Markell today decided not to refer Curtis Clark, the 70-year-old retiree who filed a document in which he compared the bankruptcy court to a brothel, to federal court for criminal contempt of court proceedings.
Clark lost $200,000 invested with hard-money lender USA Capital and he filed the document in USA Capital's bankruptcy case.
"The bankruptcy court is a brothel," Clark wrote. The investor also referred to a company that acquired the right to service loans from USA Capital as "the john" and said the judge "pays the working girls and provides the condoms."
