‘Runaway Bride’ chills in Las Vegas
June 19, 2011 - 1:05 am
Hugh Hefner's "Runaway Bride," Crystal Harris, says she wants nothing from him but a copy of their wedding invitation.
"I'm giving Hef back the ring and everything. I just want to move forward," she said Saturday during a media gathering at Wet Republic, the MGM Grand's pool venue.
Harris, who last week called off Saturday's wedding, said she has a copy of the wedding invitation and "I don't want anything else."
She flew to Las Vegas at the invitation of reality show star Heidi Montag, who was hosting the pool party.
"I'm doing OK," Harris said. "Today is the day and I just had to get away. I'm going back tonight (Saturday), so I just wanted to get away for the day."
What went wrong?
"So many things. It was a mutual decision between the both of us," she said.
She started having doubts, she said, when Hefner asked her to marry him in front of reality show video cameras and a photographer.
"It started then. I was just scared," said Harris, 25. "I didn't want to disappoint anybody, but I'm glad I made the right decision now and not after, you know.
"We have a lot in common. We really did. It's fun. It's bittersweet. I'll always be friends with Hef and go to the mansion all of the time. I talk to him all the time."
Asked about reports that she cheated on the Playboy founder, she said, "I've never cheated on Hef, ever."
She addressed her relationship with the son of TV talk-show Dr. Phil. "Jordan (McGraw) is one of my really good friends," she said. "We've been working on music for a year, and he will continue to be my good friend, and I really need my good friends right now."
Her trip to Las Vegas was just a chance "to relax and have a good time."
She made the trip with Kellie Olisky, publicist for Hefner and the Playboy Mansion.
Trips to Sin City with Hefner always involved a "super strict schedule."
Harris, who planned to fly back to Los Angeles on Saturday night, insisted she was not paid for the Wet Republic appearance. And she added much of what has been reported is "all rumors," including the Page Six report that she discussed walking away from Hefner at the altar for a $500,000 payday.
"I haven't been paid any money for an interview, nor will I ask for money for an interview. So it's all rumors. "
Asked to confirm that she didn't get paid for the Wet Republic appearance, she shook her head no.
"I came here to hang out."
Earlier in the day, "Peepshow" star Holly Madison, Hefner's ex, sent a tweet to Vegas Confidential, saying Harris' trip to Las Vegas on what would have been the wedding day was "a new low."
Asked to respond to Madison's comments, Harris said, "If anyone knows what a breakup with Hef is like, she would."
