School district to appeal e-mail release order
An attorney for the Clark County School District indicated in court Tuesday that the district would appeal to the Nevada Supreme Court a judge's order to release a year's worth of School Board members' e-mail records to Karen Gray, a Henderson resident who is researching school law.
School district attorney Bill Hoffman was unsuccessful in persuading District Judge Susan Johnson to recuse herself because of a conflict of interest.
The judge said she had previously disclosed in court that her husband, Eric Johnson, had once sued the district and Nevada Interscholastic Athletic Association to create more athletic opportunities for girls. The case is no longer in litigation.
Johnson upheld her own order, saying that she was going to err on the side of public disclosure.
