Social networking fads to fade as niches take hold
December 24, 2009 - 8:31 am
I think this guy may have a point.
At Forbes.com Michael Noer predicts the red hot trend of 2009, social networking, will cool and become replaced by smaller and smaller niches. He says the growth of Facebook is slowing and MySpace is shrinking.
He suggests, “No one really cares what you had for lunch today, and honestly only a minuscule fraction of your 600 ‘friends’ thinks those baby pictures are really cute. As the market fragments, look for new sites to emerge that are more niche and significantly more useful.”
Come to think of it, if you read the comments on newspaper stories and blog postings, there aren’t more than a dozen people who can carry on a rational conversation.
Noer has a few predictions for what’s next.
