Stars come out … for AARP
Here's an oddity. Stars are in Las Vegas for a big event, and you can see them up close -- but not on a red carpet, and they're not the usual 22-year-old reality TV stars.
Saturday night, Faith Hill sings at Sands Expo Center for AARP's Vegas@50+. Before Hill performs is a day of talky sessions by Maya Angelou, Norman Lear, Jane Seymour, Al Roker, author Gail Sheehy, Steve Guttenberg and Jonathan Roberts of "Dancing with the Stars."
Today and tonight at AARP: Martina Navratilova, Sheehy, travel author and broadcaster Peter Greenberg, chef Anthony Amoroso, Olympia Dukakis, then a concert by the Duke Ellington Orchestra, Tito Puente Jr., Kool & the Gang and the Zippers.
Admission, available only on-site, gets you into day sessions. AARP members: $25 for the weekend. Nonmembers: $35, which comes with a year's membership. Concerts cost extra: $35 Friday night; $25-$95 for Hill's show. Check AARP.org.
CRAZIEST WEEKEND EVENT
Porn actresses and regulars from Howard Stern's radio show are among 19 fighters facing off Saturday night in nine, radio-centric bouts in Muse Hall at the Hard Rock.
So porn actress Joanna Angel takes on some radio show guy. Stern regular Reverend Bob Levy fights a radio producer. In another round, a fighter will be blindfolded and wearing shock dog collars. Tickets cost $25 through Ticketmaster.
