State has 140,000 doses of swine flu treatment, working to get more
The Gibbons administration announced today that the state has 140,000 doses of Tamiflu to treat swine flu and expects to get another 86,000 doses in the next few days.
At a news conference, Gov. JIm Gibbons said there is no cause for alarm at this point, noting that Nevada has had no confirmed cases of swine flu.
Four people in Nevada have been tested for the flu and found not to have it. State health officer Dr. Mary Guinan also said Nevada is not considered a high risk state for the flu, and people who live near pig farms are not more susceptible to the disease than anyone else.
Despite its name, the origins of the flu remain unclear.
