CARSON CITY -- The No. 2 administrator of the Nevada Division of State Parks is recovering after a gun accident.

State Parks Deputy Administrator Eric Johnson accidentally shot himself in the leg while going through a standard qualification as part of his job Thursday at a Carson City gun range.

State Parks Administrator Dave Morrow told the Reno Gazette-Journal that Johnson was released after treatment at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.

He said Johnson is at home recovering, and the prognosis is good.

The accident involving a .40-caliber handgun is being investigated by the Nevada Department of Public Safety.
