State trooper found dead at home in southwest valley

A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper was found fatally shot at a residence Friday afternoon in the southwest valley with what is believed to be a self-inflicted wound, Las Vegas police said.

The identity of the deceased trooper was not released. Police said he was assigned to the agency's Southern Command.

He was 29 years old.

Police said they responded to a residence at 1:08 p.m. on the 11000 block of Fiesole Street, near Southern Highland Parkway and Mugello Tree Street, on a report of an individual who had been shot.

Once at the residence, detectives found the man suffering from a gunshot wound. The Clark County coroner's office will determine the cause and manner of the man's death and will be releasing his identity.
