State’s mayors to discuss home rule, other issues
The Nevada League of Cities will host a panel of mayors talking about local government issues including home rule, consolidation of services and budget challenges.
State Assemblyman Joe Hardy is set to moderate the panel today at the Henderson Convention Center.
Officials say it will feature Henderson Mayor Andy Hafen, Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, Reno Mayor Bob Cashell, Sparks Mayor Geno Martini and North Las Vegas Mayor Shari Buck.
Elko Mayor Mike Franzoia is the current league president. He says Nevada's elected officials face unprecedented challenges providing public services with dwindling resources.
Franzoia calls the annual league conference a great opportunity for mayors to talk about issues collectively.
