Strong winds hit parts of Southern Nevada

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for areas above 3,000 feet in Southern Nevada until 3 a.m. Sunday.

Affected areas include Mount Charleston, Red Rock Canyon, Summerlin and Blue Diamond.

Southwest winds are expected to reach 25 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph. Winds will increase early tonight and persist through midnight before decreasing early Sunday morning.

Strong winds may make driving difficult on the 215 beltway and Mountains Edge parkway, as well as the eastern slopes of the Spring Mountains.
