The Winchester Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 McLeod Drive.

The Paradise Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Paradise Recreation and Community Services Center, 4775 McLeod Drive.

The Whitney Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Whitney Recreation Center, 5712 E. Missouri Ave.

The Sunrise Manor Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Hollywood Recreation and Community Services Center, 1650 S. Hollywood Blvd.

NEW AREA CODE to debut in CLARK COUNTY

A new 725 area code for Clark County is scheduled to debut June 3, 2014. A nine-month transition period started Aug. 3 to allow Clark County residents to adapt gradually to 10-digit telephone dialing before a mandatory 10-digit dialing deadline takes effect on May 3, 2014.

Jiffy Lube sells coupon books to benefit Muscular Dystrophy Association

All Southern Nevada Jiffy Lube locations plan to sell Muscle Up coupon savings books through Sept. 2 to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Through Labor Day, visit any participating Jiffy Lube location and donate $3 to MDA and receive a savings book worth more than $100 in savings from Jiffy Lube and other MDA supporters.

FREE GUITAR LESSONS SCHEDULED

A free guitar basics for beginners class is scheduled from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 17 at the Sunrise Library, 5400 E. Harris Ave.

Participants are asked to bring their own guitar and invited to learn guitar basics such as tuning and simple chords. For more information, call 702-507-3907.

Town Square hosts Fundraiser

Town Square has a 5K walk and 1-mile run scheduled at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 14 to raise money for seven local charities.

The ONE RUN fundraiser will help support these nonprofit organizations: St. Jude Women’s Auxiliary; Penny For Thought; Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation, Salvation Army of Southern Nevada; Safe Nest; Melanoma Research Foundation; Olive Crest; and Baby’s Bounty.

Participants can choose which organization their registration fee benefits or spread it among all seven.

Registration is $25 online at onerunlasvegas.com. Registration closes Sept. 13. Donations can also be made on the website.
