Task force arrests second Henderson slaying suspect

A 26-year-old Las Vegas man wanted in connection with a December slaying in Henderson was captured Wednesday by California authorities, Henderson police said.

Timothy Burnside was arrested in a San Bernardino, Calif., neighborhood by the Riverside FBI Fugitive Task Force.

The Las Vegas Criminal Apprehension Team, a multi-jurisdictional task force that includes Henderson police, learned Burnside might be hiding out in the neighborhood and contacted the task force in Riverside, where Burnside was spotted and taken into custody.

A second suspect, Derrick McKnight, 28, was arrested May 3 in Claremont, Calif., after detectives received information that he left Las Vegas on a bus bound for California.

Burnside and McKnight are charged with murder, robbery with a deadly weapon and conspiracy in connection with the shooting death of 45-year-old Kenneth Hardwick.

He was killed in a robbery attempt early Dec. 5 while sitting in his car at a fast food restaurant drive-through on Eastern Avenue and Horizon Ridge Parkway.

Burnside is in the San Bernardino City Jail awaiting an extradition hearing.

McKnight was booked into the Henderson jail on May 20.
