Tax panel rejects $70 million rebate to Southern California Edison

The Nevada Tax Commission today denied a $70 million rebate to Southern California Edison for coal the utility bought in Arizona to fire its now-closed power plant in Laughlin.

The eight-member commission voted 6-2 against the rebate of some $40 million on sales taxes that the company paid plus roughly $30 million in interest that would have accrued since 2005.
