Teen killed trying to flag down truck in Northern Nevada

LOVELOCK — An 18-year-old California woman was hit and killed near Lovelock in Northern Nevada while trying to flag down a pickup for help.
Nevada Highway Patrol officials said Michalea Vines of Antelope, Calif., died after being hit on Interstate 80 just after midnight Tuesday.
Troopers said Vines was walking on the shoulder about four miles west of Lovelock when she stepped into the lane as she tried to signal a truck for help.
The Ford F-150 hit her.
Officials said the driver, who’s from Winnemucca, pulled over and tried to help Vines, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
