They’d love to change the world, but into what?

I was chatting with a co-worker about a comment posted on Friday's blog posting. The commentator had written in response my remarks about how ObamaCare demands insurance companies provide more and more, but prohibits any increase in premiums to pay for it.

"Both America and Obama Socialism will collapse, after Democrats run out of other peoples’ money to pay for their programs," wrote 1Raven.

So to this co-worker I said something like, "Yep, tax the rich to help the poor, till there ain't no rich no more."

And he remarked that there was an old rock song with that as a lyric.

Sure enough.

It is in a 1971 hit by British band Ten Years After, called "I'd Love to Change the World."

I don't think they meant in a pejorative sense.

Everywhere is freaks and hairies
Dykes and fairies, tell me where is sanity
Tax the rich, feed the poor
Till there are no rich no more

I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you

Were we ever so naive? I'm afraid so, and upon each new generation this condition is visited.
