Three juveniles arrested in burglary, stolen car case
Three juveniles were arrested Friday after police said they burglarized a house, drove off in a stolen car and wound up sandwiched between two other cars while trying to elude officers.
A witness saw two young men in a house on Coral Isle Way in Las Vegas and called 911 at 9:20 a.m., police said. The youths jumped into a stolen white Lexus driven by another youth and sped away.
Officers in an unmarked car spotted the trio and followed them onto U.S. Highway 95, where the Lexus reached speeds of 100 mph, said Lt. David Lewis of the Las Vegas police. However, the youths were unaware they were being tailed, so it never became a pursuit, he said.
The vehicle then exited onto Jones Boulevard, weaved through traffic, turned around in a cul-de-sac and headed back to the freeway, Lewis said. The driver then tried to squeeze the vehicle between two cars at a stoplight near U.S. 95 and the Lexus became wedged between the cars.
As an officer was pulling the two passengers out of the banged-up Lexus, the driver was spinning the tires, trying to escape, Lewis said. No one was injured in the incident.
