Titus outpacing Kihuen 2-to-1 in campaign contributions

Federal Election Commission filings show Dina Titus has outpaced fellow Democrat Ruben Kihuen in campaign contributions for Nevada's 1st Congressional District race by more than 2-to-1.

Financial reports show Titus raised nearly $422,000 so far in this election cycle and had $327,000 cash on hand as of Dec. 31.

Kihuen has raised about $189,000 and reports $135,000 cash on hand.

Titus served one term in Congress representing Nevada's 3rd Congressional District before she was defeated in 2010 by Republican Rep. Joe Heck.

Kihuen is a state senator and is seeking to become Nevada's first Hispanic elected to Congress.

The Southern Nevada district is about 40 percent Hispanic.

The seat is being vacated by longtime Rep. Shelley Berkley, a Democrat who is challenging Republican U.S. Sen. Dean Heller.
