U.S. Army History of the Iraq War — download it when you have an hour

The U.S. Army wasn't ready for a long-term war in Iraq. That's the gist of the official history of the war that's full of criticism of the Army and its lack of readiness for a prolonged engagement.

Gen. Tommy Franks, the top U.S. Commander in the Middle East at the time of the April 2003 invasion, believed most U.S. Troops would be home by August, according to the 720-page book, as reported today by National Public Radio.
