UFC beauty jailed on violence charge
UFC Octagon Girl Arianny Celeste was jailed early Saturday in Las Vegas on a charge of domestic violence.
The leading female face of the UFC with 230,000 Twitter followers, the 26-year-old beauty was booked under the name Arianny Lopez in the Clark County Detention Center.
UFC president Dana White released a supportive statement shortly before UFC 146 started at the MGM Grand Garden.
White's statement, issued by a UFC rep, read: "Arianny is our baby. She has been with us for over five years. She is a good girl and an amazing ambassador for the UFC. I don't know all the details of what happened but we have her back and support her 100 percent."
About midnight Friday, Lopez posted a smiling photo of herself in what appeared to be an evening dress. The photo caption read: "Dinner at Mizumi," the new restaurant at Wynn Las Vegas.
A few hours later, she tweeted another picture of herself with a male companion who appeared to be kissing the side of her face. The caption: "??! forever n always??"
Her last tweet, posted at about 3:30 a.m., showed her making a fierce, frustrated face like she was having a meltdown. The caption read: "I be going crayyyy ha hey bay bayyy." The last four words of her Twitter bio: "Lover not a fighter."
She's definitely a trouper; she showed up at the UFC event to handle her ring duties.
A court hearing was set for May 30.
During her six years with the UFC, she has appeared on the cover of Playboy (November 2010) and been Ring Girl of the year in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
HISSOM'S SINGING DEBUT
Steve Wynn's stepson Nick Hissom, a rising fashion model, is launching his singing career tonight at Tryst nightclub, with an on-location video shoot planned.
Hissom, 19, collaborated on the single, "Killin' Tonight," with the electronic dance music DJ duo, Manufactured Superstars.
Hissom has been working with prominent choreographers Kenny Ortega and Chris Scott. Ortega was Michael Jackson's choreographer at the end, and Scott choreographed the "Step Up" dance movie franchise.
In an interview with Vegas Confidential.com, Hissom told me the burgeoning electronic dance scene in Las Vegas spurred his singing interests.
Many of the top DJs in the world have been signed to residencies at Wynn properties. He was introduced to the Manufactured Superstars duo of Bradley Roulier and Shawn Sabo through Jesse Waits, who operates XS and Tryst nightclubs for Wynn.
"I started acting on my creative impulses," said Hissom, who grew up in Britain.
He recorded the single in April in Denver, home base of the Manufactured Superstars, who had the chart-topping hit "Take Me Over." They are resident DJs at XS.
Incidentally the video for Manufactured Superstars latest song, "Silver Splits The Blue," was shot at XS and features Arianny Celeste.
As part of the rollout of his single, Hissom is planning a 20th birthday bash in either Paris, where he is modeling during Paris Fashion Week, or St. Tropez.
