The Utah Ski and Snowboard Association reported a 2 percent increase in skier days for the 2009-2010 ski season that ended in June.
The season produced 4.05 million skier days, compared with 3.97 million skier days in the previous season. The National Ski Areas Association defines a skier day as one person visiting a ski area for any part of a day or night with the purpose of skiing or snowboarding.
Nathan Rafferty, president of Ski Utah marketing firm, said visitation numbers improved steadily after the first of the year, especially in April and May, when Utah got 152 inches and 58 inches, respectively, of snowfall. For a five-year chart of Utah’s skier days, go to www.skiutah.com.
