Vegas, where cool people chill

Recession or no, Las Vegas remains the hot place for cool people to chill.

Whether you can see them is tricky, since some are drawn by private events, such as Heather Graham and other cast members from an upcoming movie.

Fortunately, though, there are those who want to be seen. Expect Sean "Diddy" Combs on the pool party scene this weekend.

If everything fails, you can always pay up and see stars at Strip and locals casinos. No Doubt is back, kicking off a tour at the Tiger Jam benefit. Shecky Greene takes the stage again after a long absence from Vegas. And there are many more.

Take a look.

Graham, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justini Bartha and Todd Phillips (director of "Old School") will be milling about Caesars tonight for a celebrity poker tournament.

They're promoting "The Hangover," a Vegas-based comedy coming out June 5.

But you may not spot the celebs, since the 9:30 p.m. tourney is private.

If you see Graham, don't cuss in front of her. I did that in L.A. once, and she stormed away. She no like curse words.

Combs strolls in after 3 p.m. Saturday to MGM's dayclub pool party, Wet Republic, along with DJs Felix Da Housecat and Sky Nellor.

• "The Lion King" is now officially open for business. Disney's musical show did a "soft opening" recently at Mandalay Bay, playing in previews.

But "Lion King" hosted a "hard" grand opening Thursday night for media and invited Vegas VIPs.

Is it good? Find out by reading critic Mike Weatherford's review in Saturday's Review-Journal.
