Victim of industrial accident at NV Energy plant identified

A man killed Tuesday in an industrial accident at the NV Energy power plant in Moapa was identified Wednesday as William Paul Hammond, 50, according to the Clark County coroner's office.

The cause and manner of his death have not been determined. A spokeswoman for NV Energy declined to comment on the circumstances of the death.

Las Vegas police said they were called to the Reid-Gardner Station, 50 miles northeast of Las Vegas, at 5:31 p.m.

Officer Marcus Martin, a police spokesman, said medical help was requested for a man who "possibly severed his arm," although that had not been confirmed, he said.

More details of the accident were not available Wednesday.
