W. Sahara open to traffic following early morning police standoff

W. Sahara Avenue near Fort Apache Road was closed to traffic this morning as Las Vegas police officers handled a standoff with a person in an apartment near the intersection.

Officers were called to a residence at 9501 W. Sahara Ave. around 3 a.m. about a scuffle between two roommates, one of which indicated they may have had a gun, Las Vegas police Lt. Rob Lundquist said.

The roommates engaged in the domestic disturbance call barricaded themselves in the apartment until SWAT officers got inside, Lundquist said. He added that there were reports of shots fired in the residence.
