The man accused of killing four people when the car he was driving plowed through a bus stop will be held in jail on $4 million bail, a judge ruled Friday.
Authorities said Gary Lee Hosey Jr.'s blood tested positive for marijuana and that he had been drinking before the Sept. 13 crash. Blood tests showed Hosey's blood alcohol level at 0.06 percent two hours after the crash and 0.05 percent three hours after the crash. Both are below Nevada's legal limit of 0.08 percent.
But Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said authorities discovered a third blood test of Hosey, taken within two hours of the crash, showing his blood alcohol content above the legal limit.

Clark County Schools hit record low
Less than a third of Clark County schools made the grade under No Child Left Behind in the 2011-12 academic year, marking a new low for the country's fifth-largest district.
In 2008-09, 190 schools passed No Child Left Behind. It was 151 schools the next year, then 139 schools. Now, 118 out of 385 schools made it over the federal bar, which has been raised every year.
But local schools aren't going to be subject to those rules anymore. Starting this school year, Nevada and 32 other states will grade schools using their own systems approved by the U.S. Department of Education.

Nevadans getting fatter, less healthy
Nearly half of all Nevadans could be obese in less than two decades. And that weight increase could lead to a rise in associated health care costs to the tune of $5.9 billion.
That was one of the findings in a report by a pair of organizations considered expert in the field.
The study, conducted by Trust for America's Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, warned that Nevada taxpayers could pay through the nose if residents fail to change their diets and exercise more each day.

Macy's deal will help open Summerlin mall
Macy's department store has signed on as the first anchor tenant at the Shops at Summerlin, with construction expected to start in fall 2013.
Macy's will build a two-level store in the mall, scheduled to open in fall 2014.
The agreement confirms that the highly anticipated retail development in the master-planned community will resume construction after it was stalled in 2008.

Desert blossoms from wet summer
Since Aug. 1, the official weather station at McCarran International Airport has logged almost 3.5 inches of rain. Las Vegas typically receives less than 4.25 inches of rain a year, making it the driest city in North America.
Last month was the second-wettest August on record, and this month already ranks as the fifth-wettest September.
The desert quickly responded with a late-summer show of yellows and greens seen only a few times in a generation.

Romney in Vegas, gives Obama 'F' on economy
Campaigning in Las Vegas, GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney on Friday gave President Barack Obama an "F" on the economy and proposed a five-point plan to revive the housing market in hard-hit Nevada on the day the unemployment rate ticked up to 12.1 percent.
The former Massachusetts governor was in town for a fundraiser at Red Rock Resort.
The visit came the same day Romney released tax documents that show he paid $1.94 million in federal taxes last year, 14.1 percent of his income, a tad higher than the 13.9 percent he paid in 2010.
