Woman, 84, found slain in Las Vegas home had many stab wounds

A woman found slain in her central Las Vegas Valley townhouse died from multiple stab wounds to the upper body, the Clark County coroner's office said Friday.

Mary Luebeck, 84, of Las Vegas, was found shortly before noon Wednesday in the 3200 block of Opera Drive, in a gated community near the intersection of Decatur Boulevard and Desert Inn Road, police said. Her body had been through "trauma," police said, although no details were given.

The coroner said Friday she had stab wounds to the head, neck and chest.

Las Vegas police did not offer updates Friday, saying only that the case was an "active and ongoing investigation," Metro spokesman officer Jesse Roybal said. This is Metro's 62nd homicide case in 2015.
