Woman dies after school bus runs red light, hits her car in Bullhead City

KINGMAN, Ariz. — A woman has died after a school bus struck the Dodge Neon she was driving Monday in Bullhead City.

It happened about 4 p.m. at the intersection of Bullhead Parkway and North Oatman Road, Bullhead City police said.

The bus ran a red light and hit the 2002 Neon, which was making a left turn onto Bullhead Parkway. The driver of the Neon, 25-year-old Mikinzie Cassandra Watts, was flown to University Medical Center in Las Vegas where she died Monday night.

The Kingman Unified School District bus was taking 15 middle school girls from Kingman to a volleyball match when the crash happened. No one on the bus was hurt.

School District Superintendent Roger Jacks said bus driver Joseph Charles Harris, 45, was placed on leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Police said charges are pending.
