Woman dies after watercraft accident on Colorado River near Needles
The victim of a fatal boating accident Saturday on the Colorado River in Needles, Calif., has been identified as Deanna Lewis, 58, of Mead, Wash.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office said Lewis was operating a rented Yamaha personal watercraft when she was struck by another personal watercraft south of Jack Smith Park about 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
The sheriff's office said Lewis was rescued after she was knocked into the water. The agency said she was pronounced dead at Colorado River Medical Center in Needles.
A news release said alcohol is not a suspected factor and that the accident investigation continues.
