Woman dies in mobile home fire; daughter hospitalized

BEAVER DAM, Ariz. -- A northwest Arizona resident died when fire destroyed her mobile home early Monday.

The fire was reported at 3:25 a.m. in the 500 block of North Palo Verde Avenue in the community of Beaver Dam, about 90 miles northeast of Las Vegas, according to the Mohave County sheriff's office.

Spokeswoman Trish Carter said an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death of 64-year-old Katherin Jean Richardson. She said the victim's adult daughter required hospital treatment for smoke inhalation.

Beaver Dam Fire Chief Jeff Hunt said the fire destroyed a vehicle parked in a carport and scorched palm trees and other vegetation on the property. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
