Woman jailed in use of fake identification

CARSON CITY -- The Department of Motor Vehicles' new facial recognition system has led to the arrest of a second person on suspicion of using a false identity.

Maria Arcadia, 27, was arrested at the American Buildings Co. in Carson City, where she worked as a human resource coordinator under the name of Jackie Guzman, according to the Nevada Department of Public Safety.

Arcadia is accused of maintaining two identities with the DMV since August 1999.

Under her own name she obtained an identification card in 1998 and eventually a driver's license, officials said. In 1999, she obtained the identification card of Guzman, a U.S. citizen.

She renewed her driver's license under the name Arcadia in July and her identification card under Guzman on Dec. 9.

The state's facial recognition technology matched her pictures on the separate documents.

Arcadia was arrested Tuesday on felony charges of submitting a false application, possession of a fraudulent document and identity theft.

A birth certificate and Social Security card in the name of Guzman were recovered by investigators, officials said, and she also had a credit card in the name of Guzman.
