Wrong-way driver in fatal Summerlin Parkway crash charged with DUI

Nevada Highway Patrol has identified the driver of the truck that was involved in a fatal crash on Summerlin Parkway Feb. 5.

Gustavo Garcia-Martinez, 51, of North Las Vegas was charged with two counts of DUI causing death after his truck jumped the median from westbound Summerlin Parkway near Rampart Boulevard into the eastbound lane, crashing into a Toyota Corolla, according to the Highway Patrol.

The driver of the Corolla, 20-year-old Savanna Gonzales, and 31-year-old Frank Anthony Spenia III, were killed in the crash.

Garcia-Martinez was transported to University Medical Center in critical condition, but has been upgraded to stable condition, according to NHP trooper Loy Hixson.
