National anthem an inappropriate vehicle for NFL protests
I agree with Richard Sherman’s comment that President Donald Trump’s statements about the NFL and the national anthem were probably unacceptable, just as it is unacceptable to me that Mr. Sherman and other athletes fail to stand for the national anthem.
Stay in the locker room during the anthem if it bothers you so much. Use some of your million-plus salaries to take out an ad in the paper or in a magazine. You get enough attention from the media aside from the game to express your opinions. I firmly believe that the owners and coaches who support those actions are rooted in appeasement and fear of non-productive play.
But, yes, President Trump should throttle it back and work on tax and Obamacare reform.
