LETTER: Why do we always need a national search?

Why is it that any time we need to hire an highly paid government professional — i.e. to replace Jesus Jara, school superintendent — it requires a national or international search? Are there no qualified home-grown applicants to fill such jobs? I guess we just can’t trust someone who grew up and was educated here.

Although our illustrious leaders (tongue in cheek) believe that breaking everything down into little categories keeps us from knowing how they nickel-and-dime us to death, it doesn’t elude us.
