Democrats in the Legislature love to talk about creating "green" jobs. So they passed SB152, designed to train some Nevadans to help weatherize homes and the like.

But before the measure had even been passed, the state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation was apparently awarding consulting contracts based upon the yet to be enacted law. "That concerns me," said Assemblywoman Deborah Smith, a Sparks Democrat.

But it gets better.

One of the premature contracts funded two positions, at $60,000 apiece, with a private job agency in Las Vegas. And the job agency gave one of those $60,000 juice jobs to ... Clark County Commissioner Lawrence Weekly, a Democrat.

Imagine that! Ain't Nevada grand?

Alas, after word hit the media Wednesday, Mr. Weekly abruptly resigned from his side job training weather strippers.

But who ever said that government isn't very good at spreading the wealth?
