Put your money where your mouth is on energy
To the editor:
I would like to present a challenge to those who support Sen. Harry Reids energy policies.
Since Sen. Reid has said he does not support coal power plants, wants to abandon offshore oil wells, will not allow drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, has restricted oil and gas wells as much as possible, supports solar and wind generation, and thinks cap-and-tax is sound energy policy, you should be willing to pay the increased costs for energy, as Sen. Reid thinks we should.
Therefore, the following challenge sounds reasonable to me:
From now until the day before the election, send me $2 for every gallon of gas you use, and send me one-third of your power bill. This will represent the approximate increase in costs the average person would face under his policy. I will put that money in an escrow account.
If, the day before the election, you still think Harry Reid is on the right track when it comes to energy, we will donate all the money collected to the American Cancer Society.
If, on the other hand, you no longer think Sen. Reid is promoting the correct energy policies, promise not to vote for him and youll get your money back.
Lets try that program for a while, and maybe we can separate the true believers from the talkers.
