The date of the Monolithic Dome Institute’s home tour was incorrect in Thursday’s Home section. The tour is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today.
So what do we do with a room that is long and narrow? The first trick is to fool the eye by painting the short walls dark and the long walls light. The darkened walls will seem to come into the room a bit, making them appear closer and therefore making the room look a bit more in proper proportion.
DEAR GAIL: We thought by adding can lights in our family room it would brighten up the room and be all we would need. Wrong. We have a vaulted ceiling that goes up to the second floor and just don’t know what to do. Before we go out and buy more lighting, we’d like to know a little more about what we should be looking for.
