Class is in session at T-Mobile Arena. Vegas Golden Knights University helps teach hockey knowledge to local fans. The curriculum includes offensive, defensive and special teams strategy. Tuition costs $495 for five sessions, and you get to skate on Knights home ice before class begins. Tuition is reduced if you’re a season-ticket holder. You also get a free meal and a ticket to a Knights game after class. The “professors” hope that the classes will make games more enjoyable for fans with limited hockey knowledge.

An explosive possessed by Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock may have been used in an NYC bombing.
Authorities say they recovered the compound known as Tannerite from Paddock’s home in Mesquite and his car parked at Mandalay Bay.
Police have not said why the 64-year-old possessed Tannerite, which is unregulated.
Authorities also found ammonium nitrate in his vehicle.
It can also be used to build bombs.
Tannerite apparently was used in a September 2016 bombing in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood that injured 31 people.
Authorities later arrested Ahmed Rahami in connection with that bombing.

The average slot player is aging out, said Blaine Graboyes, who presented on a panel Thursday called “Why Esports Matters to Casinos Now and in the Future.”
Data from the Nevada Gaming Control Board and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority shows average slot revenue per room per day has generally declined since 2008, while average food and beverage revenue per room per day has climbed.
Graboyes, CEO and co-founder of GameCo, said the average Strip property in Las Vegas has reduced their slot footprint by 450 units over the last decade.
“That’s created an increase in win per unit, but you’re essentially just talking about the same money on fewer machines, not new customers and incremental revenue,” he said. “The real key now for casinos…is bringing in new kinds of games that bring in net new casino gamers.” Read more at reviewjournal.com (Nicole Raz/Las Vegas Review-Journal)
