The arrival of fall brings with it all the things we love—cooler temperatures, football and pumpkin spice everything. But fall also ushers in a new season of water savings for Southern Nevada. From Sept. 1 to Oct. 31, our community’s mandatory fall seasonal watering restrictions are in effect; not only does this make it the perfect time to change your watering clock, it’s also the law.
The fall restrictions limit grass landscape irrigation to three assigned watering days per week, with Sunday watering prohibited year-round. Unsure of your watering days? Visit snwa.com to ensure your watering clock is set to your three assigned watering days.
Why is this important? Our community relies on Lake Mead for 90 percent of our water supply, so every drop truly counts, especially when it comes to outdoor watering. As temperatures drop, you can be water-smart and keep your drip-irrigated plants, shrubs and trees healthy and lush by reducing your watering schedule to only two days per week. That’s all they need! This fall, remember: Drip It, Don’t Drown It!
Fall is also an ideal time to rethink your grass landscape. The Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) is offering an enhanced cash incentive—up to $5 per square foot of grass upgraded to water-efficient landscaping—through the Water Smart Landscape Rebate program (WSL). But act fast! The temporary increase ends in 2024, and the incentive will revert to $3 per square foot beginning in 2025.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to save water and money. Visit snwa.com for more landscape watering tips and to enroll in the WSL Rebate program, today. Together, we can protect our water supply—for the sake of the lake!
