As summer’s heat gives way to the cooler days and nights of fall, remember to chill out your landscape irrigation by following the seasonal watering restrictions, in effect now through Oct. 31.
The fall watering restrictions limit landscape irrigation to ONLY three assigned days per week. Watering outside of your assigned watering days can result in costly water-waste fines—and nobody wants that! Sunday watering is prohibited. Find your assigned watering days at snwa.com.
During the fall, grass should be watered no more than three days a week; meanwhile, water your drip irrigated plants and trees on a recommended two day a week schedule, based on the flow rate of your emitters. This may not sound like much, but keep in mind—the season’s cooler temperatures mean your landscape can stay healthy with less water than you think. Remember: Drip It, Don’t Drown It!

If you have a grass landscape, be sure to continue running your spray irrigation systems during the early morning hours through October to help minimize water lost to evaporation. Avoid watering on windy or rainy days and inspect and test your system regularly to prevent overspray onto sidewalks and streets and other malfunctions, which could result in a water-waste fee.
