51s bomb Sky Sox bullpen, halt three-game losing streak
Terry Tiffee had two-out RBI hits in consecutive four-run innings Friday night to help the 51s to a 10-6 Pacific Coast League victory over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Tiffee, named to the PCL All-Star team this week, doubled home the final run in Las Vegas' four-run uprising in the sixth inning that gave the 51s (46-43) a 6-4 lead. The first two runs came in on reliever Josh Newman's throwing error, as Las Vegas battered two Sky Sox relievers for eight runs and halted a three-game losing streak.
Tiffee, Angel Chavez, A.J. Ellis and Ramon Martinez had RBI hits in the seventh.
Chavez finished 4-for-5, and Tiffee, Ellis and Kevin Howard each went 3-for-5 in the 51s' 17-hit attack.
Christopher Frey went 3-for-5 with three RBIs for Colorado Springs (44-44), which had its three-game win string halted.
Matt Riley (2-1) got the victory in relief of Jon Meloan.
