51s down Aces in 10 innings

Kevin Howard hit a tiebreaking RBI double and Aaron Mathews added a two-run single as the 51s rallied with two outs to defeat the host Reno Aces 12-9 in 10 innings Wednesday in the Pacific Coast League.

After Angel Sanchez led off the 10th with a single, Aces reliever Travis Blackley (2-4) retired Joe Inglett and Howie Clark but was forced from the game by an elbow injury.

Brett Harper drew a walk off Leo Rosales, and Howard's double drove in Sanchez. Mathews followed with a single to left, scoring pinch runner Buck Coats and Howard.

Las Vegas took a 9-8 lead on Travis Snider's RBI double in the ninth, but Jonah Bayliss blew the save, loading the bases before walking in the tying run in the bottom of the inning.

Howard, who finished 3-for-4, had two doubles and his sixth home run of the season. Snider, who added his second homer, and Inglett also had three hits apiece.

Bayliss (7-2) picked up the victory, and Bubbie Buzachero pitched a perfect 10th inning for his first save of the season.
